Central Valley Alzheimer’s Caregiver & Wellness Conference

We had a wonderful turn out for our first Central Valley Alzheimer’s Caregiver & Wellness Conference with the Alzheimer’s Association, and the UCSF Fresno Alzheimer’s & Memory Center. A wonderful collaboration and team work. Thank you also for our sponsors for making this possible to our community and believing that we working together are at our strongest.

We had over 162 professionals, families, and caregivers attend this year’s conference. Each conference participant walked away with a Caregiver Tool Kit filled with community resources and information that would help provide the best care both for the Alzheimer’s patient and for the Family Caregiver. We heard from excellent speakers like Dr. Elizabeth Edgerly from the Alzheimer’s Association on “Hope in Alzheimer’s Science and Care”, and an expert panel on “The Diagnostic Process, Medical Forum and Partnering with your Physician and Care Team” that included M. Johnson PhD, Administrator, UCSF Fresno Alzheimers and Memory Center L. Alving, M.D. A. Goddard, M.D. BMedSc, FRANZCP, FAPA A. Sherriffs, M.D. ABFM D. Trinh, M.D. FACP. Conference participants also had two amazing breakout sessions that included Dale Thielges ,CTRS from the Alzheimer’s Association on “Language of the Disease & Managing Behaviors”, and Kevin Gunner, Attorney at Law and Michael Muhareb, AIF(R) Financial Consultant on “Planning for Incapacity and Are You Prepared?”. The afternoon sessions included our keynote speaker Lynn Quinn, RN, MSN, NC-BC, RYT and who spoke on “Lunch, Laughter and Healing” and “The Caregivers Self Care Plan” and Susana Rodriguez, MA shared on “The Caregivers Journey” with Suzanne Hirata’s moving personal testimony of caregiving.

We look forward to bringing you this conference next year 2016. An announcement will be made soon. We hope you could join us and remember we are here to serve you and your family.
